Due to their light weight, durability and low price plastic products are widely used for variety of application.
They have largely replaced glass, earthenware, steel and other metal containers and utensils which were widely used till a decade ago. However, the safety of using these plastics for food storage has not been studied rigorously, since it will be a few decades before the effects are fully known
